Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association: Hlk-Beaver Dam Healthy Lake: Beaver Dam Lake District will implement best practices described in Wisconsin\2019s 2014-2017 Healthy Lakes Implementation Plan. Practices include: 350 ft2 native plantings, rain gardens, rock infiltration practices, and diversion practices on 5 lakeshore properties, including the City of Beaver Dam\2019s Edgewater Park.
The best practices require a contract to remain in effect for 10 years and must include minimum operation and maintenance requirements and data collection as described in grant condition #17. If best practice(s) are implemented on land owned by the grant Sponsor, this Lake Protection Grant Agreement serves as the contract. If best practice(s) are implemented on land other than the sponsor\2019s, a contract between the sponsor and landowner that abides by grant condition #16 is required.

The property will protect the majority of the Mud Lake shoreline, which is connected to Fish Lake, a very important resource in NW Dane County. City Of Middleton: Lmi-Pheasant Branch Watershed - In Lake Mendota Priority Watersh: The City of Middleton will contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor and model the surface and groundwater flow within a portion of the Pheasant Branch watershed to locate effective combination of storm water treatment and control sites within the North Fork to mitigate the impacts of urbanization on the quality and quantity of water reaching Lake Mendota. Activities of the project include developing a surface and groundwater model based on existing data, collecting various field data for model inputs (including monitoring precipitation and flow discharge) refine the model and calibrate it to field measurements, calculate present and future pollution loads, and conduct analyses to accomplish the project objectives. Deliverables include: a report summarizing the project work, results and recommendations, maps showing recharge areas, hydrologfical sensitive sites, and the final calibrated computer model.

Lake Ripley Management District: Acq-Lake Ripley Land Acquisition - Probst Property: Lake Ripley Management District will acquire about 99 acres of croplands and wetlands that help make up the only inlet to Lake Ripley. The acquisition project consists of two parts; 1) about 63 1/2 acres of farmed/wetland and 2) about 35 1/2 acres of drained wetland. This land will contribute to water quality improvements in Lake Ripley by stopping sedimentation from cropland in a soon to be restored wetland.

Lake Ripley Management District: Acq-Lake Ripley-Johnson Acquisition: The Lake Ripley Management District will purchase a 65.926-acre parcel of the James & Jane Johnson property in the Town of Oakland, Jefferson County. The property will link the 100-acre Lake Ripley Preserve to 40 acres of DNR-owned wetlands along Lake Ripley's only inlet. This purchase would also ensure the protection, in perpetuity, of a critical stream corridor and wetland/floodplain complex within the headwaters region of Lake Ripley. By purchasing this property, Lake Ripley Management District will be able to establish protective conservation buffers; gain access to additional wetland and stream areas for purchases of protection and restoration; and will preserve one of the watershed's few remaining woodlots.

Lake Ripley Management District: Res-Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp Lkshore Rest.: Lake Ripley Management District proposes to undertake a shoreline stabilization and restoration project at the Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp shoreline on Lake Ripley, Jefferson County. They will install riprap off-shore of the existing shoreline (DNR permit already issued), plant aquatic plants inland of that riprap, and do upland seeding (to supplement previously completed plug plantings) after invasive weed and brush removal. The deliverable for this project will consist of a final written report describing the major steps in the project, supplemented with photo documentation of the work in progress and the final, complete project. Columbia County: Lmi-Tmdl Development-Phase Ii-Park Lake: Columbia County Land and Water Conservation Department will conduct phase 2 of its TMDL development program for Park Lake. This phase will focus on continued monitoring along with the use of a graduate student to conduct water quality modeling to allow for final development of a TMDL for Park Lake, a 303(d) listed lake. The objectives of this study are to quantify P export from the watershed, and link water quality with nutrient loss from the land. Project deliverables include 1) monitoring of wetland effectiveness by measuring upstream and downstream flow and concentration; 2) Field-scale Snap-Plus and watershed-scale modeling; 3) simulating water quality changes caused by wetlands in this watershed using Army Corp PRE-WET model; 4) continuation of water quality monitoring/data collection along with targeting water sample collection adjacent to wetlands; 5) information/education efforts throughout project; and 6) compilation, documentation, and recommendations of findings. Education efforts include a news release, providing updates and final presentation through regular and annual meetings of the Lake District.

Parks Dept.: Res-Korth Park Shoreline Restoration: Jefferson County Parks Department will implement the Korth Park Shoreline Restoration project along 1,300 feet of shoreline on Rock Lake. Project deliverables include: re-establishing native shoreland, upland and aquatic vegetation, stabilizing the shoreline and grading to reduce steep slopes and existing erosion.

Jefferson Co Lwcd: Hlk-Rock Lake Healthy Lake: Partnering with property owners, the applicant is sponsoring a grant to implement water quality and habitat best practices from Wisconsin\2019s Healthy Lakes Implementation Plan. Best practices, including fish sticks, 350 sq. ft. native plantings, diversions, rock infiltration, and/or rain gardens, will be designed and installed according to the Healthy Lakes fact sheets, technical guidance and grant application.

All funded best practices require contracts that must remain in place for 10 years and include the minimum operation and maintenance requirements described in grant condition #16 at the end of this agreement. If the landowner is the grant sponsor this Lake Protection Grant Agreement serves as the contract. If the best practice(s) will be implemented on land other than the sponsor\2019s, a Conservation Contract between the sponsor and landowner describing the 10-year contract period, minimum operation and maintenance details, and data to be collected is required.

The Department may perform site inspections and/or monitoring to ensure project success.

Deliverables include: Signed 10-year landowner Conservation Contract(s) with operation and maintenance requirements; data collected; pre and post project installation photographs; and summary of education activities and publicity/promotion of Healthy Lakes initiative, if applicable.

Special conditions: Project management and technical assistance costs cannot exceed 10% of the state share of the grant award; this does not include implementation labor. Water regulation and/or county zoning permits must be issued before construction, and all regulatory requirements apply. The Healthy Lakes logo should be used for promotion and publicity and DNR recognized as a funding source.

Dane County Parks: Aulik Acquisition-Patrick Marsh: Dane County will acquire acreage within Patrick Marsh, a DNR and Dane County project area that is identified in both the Land Legacy Report and the Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan. The Aulik property is approximately 11.6 acres along the southern shore of Patrick Marsh. The acquisition of this property will protect and enhance this natural resource site.

Village Of Mazomanie: Lmi-Lake Marion Family Recreational Fishery: The Village of Mazomanie will complete a large, multi-faceted lake restoration project on Lake Marion by installing an access sign at the boat landing, installing an aeration system, stocking fish, placing habitat structures on the bed, and reconfiguring and restoring large lengths of shoreline consistent with department recommendations. The boat landing access sign will explicitly reflect the Village ordinance allowing non-motorized boat use of the lake. Current steep shorelines will be graded to provide a healthy diversity of habitat, dead trees will be introduced and anchored to shore, and trees, shrubs and understory natives will be planted. Water quality will be monitored to track lake improvements. Project updates will be shared via social media, press releases, public meetings, and community volunteer workdays and celebration.
